README.1ST - Important information about DataView v3.1
DataView v3.1 is not a major upgrade, however it does fix a problem with
using DataView on certain CD-ROMs.
Upgrading to DataView 3.1 from DataView v3.0? All you need to do is
replace the old DATAVIEW.EXE with the new DATAVIEW.EXE and that should
take care of everything.
If you are upgrading to DataView 3.1 from DataView 3.0ß make sure you
read UPGRADE.DOC which contains very important upgrade information.
If you are upgrading to DataView 3.1 from DataView 2.2 make sure you
read UPGRADE.DOC which explains the upgrade process. Its very easy, but
you must read it to install DataView 3.1 correctly.

NEW FEATURES TO DATAVIEW 3.0
▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀
DataView has been completly rewritten for version 3.0, and I think you
will like the new features! Below is a little information on what is
new to version 3.0.
■ Support for ALL nonstandard base addresses and IRQs.
■ Improved speed and reliability.
■ New archive formats have been added, including: ARC, PAK, SDN, and
self extracting EXE files compressed with PKZIP, ARJ, and LHA.
■ Enhanced [R]ead feature with *text searching*!
■ Enhanced [I]ntegrity scanning feature displaying CRC values.
■ Enhanced [V]irus scan feature which displays the version of SCAN.EXE
■ Enhanced [D]ownload feature which allows compressing up to 10 files
into an archive for download and an array of different compression
formats. If the user only downloads one file they have the option
not to compress. Users may even choose self extracting EXE archives
should they not have a copy of a decompression program around.
■ Internal transfer protocols including Zmodem CRC 32 with Crash
Recovery.
■ Viewing archives *within* archives.
■ Graphical charts of individual file sizes.
■ FileSpec function now supports wildcards.
■ DESQview aware and compatible.
■ Automatically swaps to conventional memory, EMS, or disk based on
what DataView needs at the time, there's nothing you have to configure
for this.
■ New easy to use configuration program.
■ Access to the download feature can be limited to by security level
using a pick list inside the DataView configuration program.
■ In addition to internal protocols, DataView can be configured to use
any of the external protocols defined in MAKEWILD via a picklist.
■ Many other little changes and features here and there :)
